In the United States, among the many states, few states are considered “surrogacy-friendly states”, which means these states have surrogacy regulations that legalize and recognize the practice.
The intended parents are granted a pre-birth order in these surrogacy-friendly states. Their marital status and sexual orientation do not act as a barrier in this procedure as it does in other states. Different types of surrogacy, including gestational surrogacy, are widely offered by these states, where the surrogate is compensated.
Few of the states where surrogacy is legal:
- District of Columbia
- New Hampshire
- Rhode Island
- New Jersey
