We have a set of defined requirements that both the intended parents and surrogate must fulfil. For surrogates, they must be non-smokers and are at least 21 years of age and not more than 40 years. Apart from that, a surrogate should be diligent and mature enough to understand surrogacy contracts. Both intended parents and surrogate should be emotionally ready to commit to their surrogacy plans.
The surrogate matching process is typically done based on four important criteria and they are:
- The personality of both the parties and their matching preferences.
- Roles and legal aspects.
- Thoughts on selective reduction and termination.
- Location/ State of residence
As both parties are going to be in constant touch when entering into the commercial surrogacy agreement, it is pivotal that the two must get along. This is done by checking their compatibility and if they share similar goals, hopes, and expectations. The second criteria are crucial for matching, as surrogacy laws are not defined by the federal government. Each state has its surrogacy law. To ensure that the legality corresponds, our legal team collaborates with lawyers from the surrogate’s region as well as the intended parents’
Lastly, any pregnancy can lead to health risks, surrogacy is no exception. If in the future, the pregnancy poses a threat to the surrogate, it must be terminated. Thus both parties’ views on such rare future cases should be alike.
