Surrogate Matching: How We Connect Intended Parents and Surrogates

Embarking upon the surrogacy process can be overwhelming as it involves several other elements. One such element is finding the right surrogate. A surrogate is a woman who will carry your baby in her uterus for the entire gestational surrogacy agreement. She is the one with whom you are going to be closely bonded for more than a year, gestational surrogate is a crucial part of the surrogacy procedure, and hence finding the right one is not optional, but it is cathartic and mandatory.

As a result, we dedicate ourselves to our clients and work tirelessly and diligently to discover the perfect match for both intended parents and surrogates. An open and honest approach to the entire international surrogacy procedure goes a long way, and we believe in being transparent with all the parties involved in the surrogacy journey. Wondering how we connect surrogate and intended parents? Well wonder no more, here’s a close look at how we do it.

A Brief About Surrogacy Screening & Surrogate Matching Process

After receiving both the parties’ applications, various parameters are reviewed to determine compatibility. These considerations include where you live, your health insurance, your medical condition, and the type of surrogacy you require.

By providing the intended parents’ profile to a surrogate and vice versa, a profile exchange is completed. If both parties exhibit mutual interest, we set up an initial video conference or in-person meeting, so that they may get to know one another. We continue forward with the surrogacy assistance program if the initial meeting goes well, which it usually does

How We Screen The Surrogate in Surrogate Matching process?

We receive several applications from potential surrogates. The first step to finding out the best surrogate matching is an in-depth analysis of their background. This is done through a team of surrogacy specialists, who finds out the surrogate’s medical, criminal and financial history. Only when all the factors come clean, we move ahead towards the next step.

The second step includes a personal interview that tests her desire for becoming a surrogate, if it sits well within our experience, we finalize the surrogate. Another series of medical tests are done to ensure that the surrogate is healthy and a well-suited recipient on conceiving and preparing for gestational surrogacy.

Lastly, our legal team will assess the potential legal surrogate matching alternatives after she has been accepted. As surrogacy law differs by state; the legal procedures available and the types of parents who can be matched with a surrogate in that state are determined by the state in which the surrogate resides and intends to give birth.

What Are Our Surrogacy Requirements?

We have a set of defined requirements that both the intended parents and surrogate must fulfil. For surrogates, they must be non-smokers and are at least 21 years of age and not more than 40 years. Apart from that, a surrogate should be diligent and mature enough to understand surrogacy contracts. Both intended parents and surrogate should be emotionally ready to commit to their surrogacy plans.

The surrogate matching process is typically done based on four important criteria and they are:

  • The personality of both the parties and their matching preferences.
  • Roles and legal aspects.
  • Thoughts on selective reduction and termination.
  • Location/ State of residence

As both parties are going to be in constant touch when entering into the commercial surrogacy agreement, it is pivotal that the two must get along. This is done by checking their compatibility and if they share similar goals, hopes, and expectations. The second criteria are crucial for matching, as surrogacy laws are not defined by the federal government. Each state has its surrogacy law. To ensure that the legality corresponds, our legal team collaborates with lawyers from the surrogate’s region as well as the intended parents’

Lastly, any pregnancy can lead to health risks, surrogacy is no exception. If in the future, the pregnancy poses a threat to the surrogate, it must be terminated. Thus both parties’ views on such rare future cases should be alike.

If all the above criteria are met, it’s a match!
